Gents Club Championship
GENTS CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP 2008
This year's event was held on Saturday 19th July. The wind was blowing quite hard with a few showers around, but not enough to trouble most of the 90 players competing for the Championship, the Plate and the Best Nett competitions.
Mike Taylor returned as organiser, with his wonderous Excel spreadsheets and projector- thanks to him. Sheila Waltham was yet again a stalwart showing up with me at 7.00 and receiving all the players with a smile and guidance-thanks to her. There were four other ladies too who must not be forgotten for their roles as starters each persevering at the first tee for nearly two hours- thanks to Gill Lee, Sue Phillips, Mary Heppolette and Maggie Cartwell.
The 36 hole vent got off to a great start in the AM round with only a few shots separating 10 players. However, in the afternoon, with the wind stronger, Jack Woods prevailed and came in the winner by three shots.

Gents Invitation Day
GENTS INVITATION DAY- SUNDAY JUNE 8th
A cracking good day was had by 18 members and their guests. The weather was fantastic and the scoring was not too bad either. Winners and Runners-up scored 42 and 41 points respectively( off 3/4 )
Thanks to Rob etc for the food which went down really well and to the ground staff for presenting the course in such a beautiful condition- I am sure the guests were impressed!
Thanks also to Tim Fox and Bob Styles who turned up to accompany an odd numbered pair. Unfortunately, they didn't turn up!
