CHARITY DAY 2008- In aid of Macmillan Cancer Support

This year's event was held on June 28th and was a great success! It ran as a difference this year with no main sponsor available. However, the members really got behind it and came up trumps with enough sponsorship of holes and prizes to allow it to take place. Thanks must go to all those who contributed financially-Individuals, Swindles, local companies( Neary, Milehams, Star Cargo and Shadow Technology ) and Burhill Group. Thanks also to the many helpers who made it happen- Colin Robinson, Tim Fox, Robert Landau, Eric Diment and also to Burhill Management and staff for all the assistance given. Thanks also to Pat and Bob Styles and Sue and Dennis Penhale for helping on the day- much appreciated.

The final total collected for the charity will be something around £3,500.

CAPTAINS’ SUMMER BALL- JUNE 14TH

This was a Magical evening, thoroughly enjoyed by over 70 members and guests still flling the dance floor at just before 1.00AM!

J-Jay Jackson provided a wonderful array of table and floor-show conjuring as well as being a superb disco manager. Totally recommendable for any event requiring that extra-special ingredient!

The evening was balmy at the start allowing guests to congregate on the patio and have their official pictures taken with the course in the background. The prints ARE AT THE PRO-SHOP NOW!

Rob and Michele then served up a beautiful array of delicious courses including a sumptious buffet with crevettes, crab, salmon, fine meats and all the trimmings. Thanks to them for their help and delivery!

Aldwicks' Past Captain, Colin Clark, celebrated the new year with a strenuous hike up Mount Kilimanjaro.  Colin undertook the challenge to climb Africa's highest mountain in aid of charity, leaving his "back office" support to Keith Cox, whose challenge was to part members from their spare cash. Colin raised £839 for MacMillan Cancer Support. The new slim-line Colin (right) and trusty supporter Keith (left) are seen below presenting the cheque to the charity's representative, Sue Hattam.

At the Captains' Drive In on Saturday 8th March, the new club Captains drove a combined distance of 409 yds down the 10th hole. The Lady Captain drove 195 yds and the Club Captain 214 yds. As no one guessed the distance in the sweep, all monies (c £100) were donated to the Captains' Charities. This year both captains are supporting Macmillan Cancer Support.
