COMPETITION ELIGIBILITY - QUALIFIERS
Council of National Golf Unions (CONGU) analysis states the accuracy with which a player’s score could be related to handicap was significantly dependent on the number of Qualifying Scores submitted by the player. To gain a fair assessment of a player’s handicap a minimum of seven qualifiers or more a year needs to be played. Three Qualifiers are an insufficient body of evidence on which to assess a player’s true handicap playing ability. A minimum of 7 qualifiers will provide a truer reflection (within 1/2 a shot) by the computer generated reports.
The Gents Committee decided to increase the number of qualifiers needed to win a competition from three to five, on a rolling year basis, effective 1st July 2009. This increase will assist the Handicap Committee (and Computer) to fairly evaluate a player’s playing ability and Handicap (up or down).
All Sections of the Club have agreed to the five qualifier rule.
GENERAL PLAY CARDS
To help gather a further body of evidence re player’s handicaps, the Gents Section are now accepting ALL GENERAL PLAY CARDS. These cards will only be used as a body of evidence and unlike previously, no single score card will result in a change of handicap. Please place signed cards in the box below the P.S.I. screen in the lobby.
